Here is a video of my award winning tractor models display at the 2007 tractor show at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern. Myself and friends were awarded 1st place.
I have 2 tractors on the farm that are my own, a Ford 8700 and a Ford 8100. The 8700 came from Robert Wright Ltd. I had her a few years before I had her resprayed. She spends her life muck/silage hauling, slurry tankering, baling and occasionally forage harvesting. And of course now I take her to tractor world each year. She has about fourteen thousand hours on the clock and she really goes well. She is my favourite tractor, my girl.
The 8100 came from Ken Barber. She had a very rusty cab and was in a poor state. Since then I have Bought her another cab and some bigger wheels. She has also had another engine put in her. She goes well now, the jobs I use her for include mowing, tedding, raking and silage hauling but her main job is Hedge trimming, she is a good tractor suitable for those jobs.
I have lived at Brook farm in Gloucestershire all of my life, a farmer born and bred. I love my life on the farm, which is a dairy farm. In my earlier days I was eager to leave school so that I could devote myself full-time to farming.
My day-to-day chores include tractor driving- feeding, cleaning out the buildings, muck hauling, hedge trimming, tankering, silaging and hay/straw making and the general day- to-day work to keep things running.
From a young age I commenced collecting model tractors, starting with Birthday and Christmas presents. The interest is now my passion and I have long lost count of the number of models I own. This march (this weekend in fact) will be the third time I have entered my own 2 tractors a Ford 8700 and the 2nd year I have taken my Ford 8100. Also I have entered my model display. Although I cannot claim this as my own as it is more of a joint effort with my good friend Chris. We have also had help from other friends Mike and Rob. This year we have doubled the size of the display including a display of a farm, a quarry demonstration, a grassland and tillage demonstration plus tiered shelving displaying our favourite models. I will post pictures on the site asap. We aim to extend and remodel the display each year. We have in mind to include a video display showing the real tractors at work throughout the year.
